Jackson County Veterans Memorial, Sylva
The marker is a polished granite tabletstone with a low serpentine top several feet high and standing on a single granite base. Incised across the top are the coats of arms of the five military branches. From left to right appear Army, Navy, Airforce, Marine Corps and Coast Guard. The inscriptions appear below.

The Veterans Memorial and the War Memorial Fountain are located at the bottom of the steps leading to the front entrance of the old Jackson County Courthouse building which is now the town’s public library. The steps begin at the intersection of W. Main St. and Keener St., Sylva, NC. Halfway up the impressive staircase is the Jackson County Confederate Soldiers Monument. The Founding of Jackson County and Time Capsule marker and the Jackson County Armed Forces Memorial stand right to the left corner of the old Jackson County Courthouse building.
The historic courthouse building with its impressive staircase serves as a striking backdrop for the War Memorial Fountain and the Jackson County Veterans Memorial. Surrounding mountains add to the scenery.
