WWII and Korean War Dead Memorial, Smithfield
The memorial flagpole reaches the roof line height of the three story courthouse. It rises from a two tier base constructed of granite blocks with the inscription plaque attached to the plinth facing the street.

Johnston County War Veterans Association
The flag pole is located on the Market Street side of the Johnston County courthouse, 207 E. Johnston Street, Smithfield, NC. It stands directly in front of the entrance. The courthouse grounds also hold a World War One Doughboy statue, Veterans Memorial, a plaque commemorating General Lee's surrender at Appomattox, a memorial listing Johnston County war dead since World War Two, and World War One Memorial Drinking Fountain.
The memorial flagpole stands on a paved walkway leading to the main entrance of the courthouse building.
