EXTRACT OF A LETTER FROM Mr PORTER TO GOVERNOUR BURRINGTON. DATED NORTH CAROLINA 30th NOVEMBER 1729.

Our Session ended last Thursday, when Sir Richard confirmed several Laws, one among the rest for raising 30000£ Paper Currency, who has a Present for so doing of 500£. How this latter Conduct will be approved of in England, in respect it breaks one of the articles of his Instructions, we are at a loss to judge.

I prevailed with him for near a Twelvemonth last past to stop Warrants and Patents for Land, till his Majesty's Pleasure was further known; himself having wrote the Duke of Newcastle his Reasons as well as his Resolutions on that occasion, which now he is every day breaking through by signing Patents
