Proceedings of the Safety Committee in Pitt County.

Martinborough 10th June 1775.

The Committee then Met.

Present, John Simpson, chairman; John Hardee, Robert Salter, James Lanier, Jas. Lockheart, George Evans, Jas. Gorham, Edmund Williams, Benjamin May, William Robeson, Amos Atkinson and William Bryant.

Whereas it is thought expedient that a number of Members be added to the present Committee,

Ordered, that the chairman give notice to the freeholders of the county to meet at the House of John Lesslie in Martinborough on

the 23d Instant, then and there to elect and choose such persons as they may think proper for carrying into Execution the Resolves of the Congress.

The Resolves of the Craven County Committee were produced & read, which were then approved of by this Committee.

The Committee then adjourned to the 23d of this Inst.
