LT. COL. MOUNTFLORENCE TO THE CLERK OF THE COUNTY COURT OF DOBBS.

January 25th, 1782.

Sir:

In virtue of an order from the Council of State, the Clerks of the County Courts are called upon to furnish the Supt. Com’y. General with a List of the Taxables & taxable property of their respective Counties, including the number of Acres of Lands, Heads of Cattle, Horses, &c., &c., in order to settle the Accounts of the County Commissioners & to regulate the Business of his Department.

In consequence of the above Order, I am directed by Colo. Davie, Com’y. Genl., for to apply to you for the above List, which you will oblige me in forwarding to me as soon as possible, and directed under the care of Mr. Van Schellebeck, Merchant, in Newbern.
