North Carolina—ss.

His Excellency Arthur Dobbs Esqr his Majestys Captain General Governor and Commander in Chief in and over the said Province

To the Honourable John Rieussett Esquire—Greeting.

Out of the assurance I have of your Loyalty Integrity and ability and In Virtue of his Majestys Royal Commission I do hereby constitute nominate and appoint you the said John Rieussett Chief Baron of his Majestys Court of Exchequer in and of the sd Province To have use and exercise during my pleasure the several Powers and Authorities of Chief Baron of the said Court of Exchequer and to take receive and Enjoy the Fees Salaries and Perquisites Privileges and Emoluments usually made of right by the Chief Baron of the said Court of Exchequer taken received and enjoyed and generally to Act and do therein as to the office and Duty of Chief Baron of the said Court of Exchequer doth truly and legally appertain.

Given under my hand and the Seal of the said Province at New Bern the Twenty Eighth Day of April in the Thirty first year of the Reign of our Sovereign Lord George the Second by the Grace of God King of Great Britain &c and in the Year One Thousand Seven hundred and fifty Eight.
