I have been petitioned by two women i.e., Mrs. Greaves & Mrs. McKensie, living in this Town to write to your Excellency to grant them permission to go out in the Flag of Truce now lying in this Harbour, one of them vis, Mrs. Greaves has a husband on board the said Vessel and has two Children, at this time I see no prospect of her maintaining herself & Children, and am apprehensive she may become a burden to the Parish should she be detained. The other is a Widow who has one Child, and possibly may likewise become a charge to the publick, she has friends in Scotland and has been frequently solicited to go home but never had a favorable opportunity. A Line from you as soon as convenient would oblige those poor women, as the Flag will sail shortly. I am with Respect Sir,
