Dr. Sir:
Your kind favour to R. E. came to hand & he returns you thanks for your polite offer of a room in your house. However strong his Inclination may be of accepting it 'tis entirely out of his Power at present to go to your Quarter of the World at this busy time, being engaged in fitting out a Privateer in order to
retaliate if possible for the many Losses we have met with in the Navigation way during this war. Inclosed you have an acct. of the things ordered; the amt. you can pay when convenient.We congratulate you on the late agreeable news. Besides what is contained in the enclosed there is a letter in Town from one Commasee, a French Gentn. informing the Fleet has left the Deleware, that the Enemy who undertook the absurd march through the Jerseys carried only 10 days Provisions with them & that our men had nearly surrounded them.
