GOV. THOS. BURKE TO COL. ATHERTON.

Halifax, March 26th, 1782.

Sir:

The Bearer waits on you with a Horse which I am informed was furnished from the County of Northampton for the State Troops and without any Sort of Accoutrements. He is utterly unfit for the Service and no way answering the requisition of the Act of Assembly. I must Suppose you have been imposed on by some of your Officers, for you are certainly too good a Judge to deem the Horse Sent you now fit for Dragoon Service.

I request that you will furnish from your County a Sufficient horse, properly Accoutred, and without delay, as the Troops are going upon Immediate Service.

I am, Sir,
Your Obedt. St.,
THOS. BURKE.
Coll. Atherton of
Northampton County.
