Sir:
I have the honor to enclose to your Excellency a copy of the resolution of the Assembly of this State, and also a Copy of the names of such persons as are referred to in the resolution:—the general design of which is sufficiently explained, therein and have only to oberve to your Excellency that I am convinced the motive in this State, to this proceeding arises from a disposition to cultivate harmony of sentiment and uniformity of practice, on the principles of the federal union, that the safety and honor of the whole may be inviolably preserved.
I flatter myself it will meet your Excellency’s approbation and that as soon as convenient, I shall be honored with a return of the names of such persons as are proscribed by the Laws of your State, and the measures adopted to render such inevasive and effectual.
