Escaping the flood

This passage offers another blow-by-blow account of the Cavenaughs' reaction to the flooding. Despite a warning from their daughter, they decided not to leave the area and woke up to find their truck submerged to its taillights in water and escaped with only a few possessions. Jenny "felt like that I was a refugee."
