Browsing Using the Collection Finding Aid

Through the Thomas E. Watson Papers Digital Collection, users can view the contents of the manuscript collection online much in the same way they would in the Reading Room of the Southern Historical Collection. To browse digital facsimiles in their archival context, use the Collection Finding Aid. Digitized materials are linked throughout the finding aid and are indicated by an icon (link image).

To navigate the finding aid itself, use the search box (located at the top of the finding aid) to find words in the page or the collection quick links to jump to a particular section. Use Collapse All Sections to minimize all sections of the finding aid so that only their headings display, and Expand All Sections to display the entire finding aid.

FAQ

What materials can I view using this digital collection?

Some materials in the collection (folders 410-417, 449-456, 468-478, 498, 576, 595, and 600) were determined to be unsuitable for digitization due to the large amount of conservation work required to stabilize them and the fact that their informational content is available elsewhere (most undigitized materials consist of clippings from prominent newspapers). In these cases, the folders are labeled as Not digitized in the finding aid. These materials may be viewed in person at the Southern Historical Collection, University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill.
