  • Description

This war memorial complex includes several markers dedicated to citizens of the Hoke County who fought in WWI, WWII, Korea, and Vietnam. The center granite slab stands approximately five feet tall and two feet wide, with dates of four wars carved into its sides. At the top of each side there is a seal for American Ex-prisoner of War and for each of the different service branches. Seals are carved above inscription on each side. A bronze eagle spreads wings atop the central monument.
There is a ground plaque in front of the center marker with the dedication date and the five names of the Veterans Monument Committee. Two small markers with angled front face stand on the right and two similar markers stand on the left of the central marker. Two markers (far right and far left) are dedicated to soldiers killed in action. This memorial complex is located in front of the Hoke County Courthouse.

The presenters read off the names of all the Hoke County veterans who passed away since last Memorial Day. American Legion Post 20, Disabled American Veterans Chapter 17 and the Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 10 presented the program, and Hoke County Veterans Service Officer Jackie Halliburton gave in support."
