Scrolls are carved into the top of each corner and a carving of the earth sits on top. The smaller slabs have raised panels with the names of Union County war dead. Carved into the panels are coat of arms, from left to right, of the Army, Navy, Air Force and Marines with a star incised on either side of each coat of arms. Fluting several inches tall is carved near the top between each of the raised panels. Five flag poles stand behind the monument. Flags flown are of the four branches of service represented on the monument and that of the Coast Guard. A low stone retaining wall surrounds the memorial.
