  • Description

The St Pauls War Memorial consists of a three faceted granite center column about 7-feet tall with shorter tablestone pieces attached to either side, all on a double base. Attached to the center column are bronze coats of arms for the five branches of the military. The left facet holds the Army coat of arms positioned above that of the Coast Guard. The center facet holds the Navy coat of arms and the right facet holds that of the Marines above the Air Force. The center facet also features an incised Peace Dove beneath which appear three incised assault rifles with crossed barrels resting on a wreath. The flanking tablestones list the wars of American beginning with World War I and the men from the St Pauls area who died during these conflicts. The memorial stands to the rear of a stone paved oval courtyard with an oval shaped fountain in the center. Slightly in front of and to either side of the memorial are stone benches. Just in front of the benches near the fountain are markers with dedication and committee member plaques. Three flag poles stand behind the memorial.
