    The Silent Service Memorial is a black granite bench on a concrete pad surrounded by red brick pavers. The Submarine Service patch and inscription is incised into the front of the seat back. To either side are emblems for two submarine service veterans’ organizations. The rear of the seat back has the primary inscription and the logo for U.S. Submarine Service Veterans. A nautical style flagpole stands to the left with the U.S. flag, N.C. flag and Submarine Service Veteran flag.

    The street address for the memorial bench is 503 S. Broad Street in Edenton’s Colonial Waterfront Park, Edenton, NC. Located nearby is the Edenton Bell Battery C.S.A. on the side lawn of the Penelope Baker House Welcome Center. The Baker House is also home to the Edenton Historical Commission. Chowan County Confederate Dead monument stands about 300 feet north. The Edenton Tea Pot and the Joseph Hewes Memorial are close by.
