About this Item

Title Chimney, clay mortar stone, Holloway place. Chimney details showing stone generally found along parkway, Sec 1P through 2F.
Date February 14, 1936
Description Close-up photograph of the stone masonry work of the chimney at the Holloway place, located approximately one-quarter mile away from station 120 and mile post 232 in section 2B of the Blue Ridge Parkway.
Noted with the photograph: "This stone is generally picked up and laid either dry or with some mortar as shown in 50a (neg#5616). It would not be feasible to put up enough stone exactly like this for the parkway structures, but the general character of the stone work should be sought."
