Commentary | This picture appears to be a scenic view of Black Mountain, taken in August of 1935. However, the picture was taken because at this time Black Mountain was being logged. Forestry, allowed by National Forests and prevented by National Parks, plays a huge role in the economy of section 2-V of the Blue Ridge Parkway. On Black Mountain, it is spruce that is being cut. |
