Commentary | The Northwest Trading Post opened for business in August of 1958. Founded as a non-profit business by locals living in the Glendale Springs area, the purpose of the Northwest Trading Post was to display and sell the locally crafted goods of the ten counties surrounding this section of the Blue Ridge Parkway. Since no business can operate along the Parkway without National Park Service approval, the Trading Post is one of the approved concessions. |
