Title | Bypass dedication around Asheville |
Date | September 2, 1967 |

Commentary | The struggle to bring the parkway to the Asheville area was a lengthy political battle in the 1930s. Three decades later, this section of the parkway was finished and open to the public. Bringing the parkway to the Asheville area would also bring tourists to the city, which already featured many attractions. This road not only made the city more accessible, but served as a tourist route itself because of the scenery. |
