Commentary | Bear Den (elevation 3359 feet) is one of many overlooks throughout the parkway. The overlooks had to be constructed in spots that would provide a great view while having sufficient room for parking. Parking areas were also necessary for visitors who wished to leave their cars and explore the walking trails along the Blue Ridge Parkway. |
