Description Photograph shows a close-up view of a hand-laid rock embankment near mile post 263 in section 2E of the Blue Ridge Parkway. Taken by L. M. H. on August 14, 1936.
Commentary The embankment was hand-laid using large thin slabs of rock stacked on top of each other. A construction helmet placed on the wall provides scale for the rocks and the wall.
