Description Photograph shows the road area roughly cut out of rock on both sides in section 2M of the Blue Ridge Parkway.
Commentary This was the southern end of a proposed bridge site. Taken in December 1936, this picture is shortly after construction began on this section of the parkway (2M) which was completed and open in 1940.
