About this Item
Title | View of Proposed Crossing of NC 18 (2) |
Date | June 28, 1936 |
Description | Photograph shows a hill with a small path and trees, with an automobile and larger road in the foreground. Taken near the boundary between section 2C and section 2D of the Blue Ridge Parkway. |
Commentary | The image, taken from the top of a small hill, is supposed to be a potential site where the Parkway would cross state highway 18. The road down below (parallel to the car) is NC 18. It is unclear whether the Parkway was intended to cross over the hills (by bridge) or down below. The road opposite the photographer appears to be an access road to NC 18. NC Route 18 marks the end of section 2C (north) and section 2D (south). |
